See the world, really ... see the world
Rice has a long-standing partnership with NASA, and many Rice graduates join NASA for careers in engineering, among other fields. Some go on to become astronauts like Peggy Whitson, '86, who spent six months aboard the space station, where she conducted 21 investigations in human life and microgravity sciences.

Visiting Students

Come spend a semester with us. Students wanting to spend a semester or a year at Rice taking courses for credit to be applied toward their undergraduate degree at another school can apply for admission as visiting students. Visiting students attend Rice as full-time students and are members of one of the residential colleges during their stay. Visiting students are not registered as candidates for a Rice degree. Students under the visiting student program who wish to transfer to Rice may apply as a transfer student only after having left Rice for at least one semester.

A complete application to Rice includes:

  1. Rice application for Visiting Student Admission
  2. a nonrefundable $65 application fee
  3. SAT or ACT scores
  4. all high school and college transcripts
  5. dean of students recommendation (last page of the application)
  6. recommendation from a professor who has taught you within the past academic year

Visiting student applications should be postmarked by March 15 for the fall semester and October 15 for the spring semester.
