SECOND DEGREE STUDENTS
An individual who has a bachelor's degree from another institution and desires another degree in a different area of focus may apply as a second-degree student on a space available basis. Students may only pursue a second degree that is significantly different from their first degree.
A complete application to Rice includes:
- Rice Application for Second Degree Admission
- a nonrefundable $65 application fee
- SAT or ACT Scores
- all high school and college transcripts
- dean of students recommendation
- recommendation from two professors who have taught you at your most recent school of attendance
Second Degree applications should be postmarked by March 15 for the fall semester and October 15 for the spring semester.
Students whose first bachelor's degree is from Rice who desire a second bachelor's degree from Rice should apply to the registrar.
CLASS III STUDENTS
Students who already hold an undergraduate or graduate degree and would like to take courses at Rice for credit but not in a specific degree program may apply for Class III standing. Contact the Office of Research and Graduate Studies for more information.
