Overnight Visits

High school seniors, grab your sleeping bag and spend a night at Rice during the academic year! You will find an overnight visit in one of Rice’s eleven residential colleges one of the best ways to experience Rice first hand. We work to match you with a student who shares your academic or extracurricular interests. You might even room with someone from your home state or region. Overnight visits are for high school seniors only.

Overnights are available Monday through Thursday, but they are not available on weekends, during student holidays, or after the last day of classes. You must arrive in the Admission Office during regular office hours, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. to meet your student host for your overnight visit. If flying, we suggest a morning flight to ensure a timely arrival on campus. It is important to account for unknown variables such as delayed flights and traffic patterns. Plan your visit to Rice.

Scheduling a Visit

Check out the schedule below for available dates. To schedule an overnight, please request an overnight at least two to three weeks before you would like to visit.

Once your overnight is confirmed, we will send you a confirmation letter along with a Consent and Medical Authorization Form for you to complete and return to us. The form must be received by the Admission Office at least three business days before your visit. Please fax or mail your form to the Office of Admission.

Please note: If you make an overnight reservation more than a month in advance, your confirmation letter will not be mailed until three to four weeks before your scheduled visit.

A special note to parents/guardians: Please encourage your son or daughter to call our office personally when requesting an overnight visit. It allows us to get to know your child and helps us to find a compatible host.
