Meet Rice Students
Noah Tian

Name: Noah Tian
Hometown: Boulder, Colorado. Graduated from high school in New Braunfels, Texas
Age: 18
College: Hanszen
Major: Bioengineering

Extracurricular activities: Student Association, Model UN, Student Admission Council, and Austin High School mentor.

Favorite thing to do at Rice: Go to nearby Rice Village for sushi at Kubo’s. It’s a great way to catch up with friends and to relax, especially after a long week of stressful exams, problem sets, and papers.

The thing that surprised me most about Houston: Weather that feels like 100 percent humidity during the beginning of the year, but thankfully gets better.

What I like most about Houston: The proximity to major areas of entertainment, art, and shopping because of Rice’s central location.

Ways in which Rice has changed/shaped me: Rice has given me the opportunity to develop my independence away from home, as well as to grow as an individual.

Something I’ve done at Rice that I didn’t expect to do: Change my major on the first day.

Favorite food at Rice: Spinach salads, along with daily fresh fruit with yogurt.

My plans after graduation: Backpack across Europe and go to medical school for cardiovascular surgery.

Rice is: Me.
