Loans
If you’re like most students, you and your family worry about paying for college. Luckily, there are a variety of funding sources available to help you advance your education.
Whether you qualify for need-based aid or not, loans are available to you. If you qualify for need-based aid, loans are awarded as part of your financial aid package. If you don’t, you may still take out a loan. Since loans are coordinated through Rice University, please make the Office of Financial Aid your first point of contact regarding all loans.
The best loans are federal loans: Stafford, Perkins and parent Plus
Federal Stafford Student Loan
Federal Perkins Loan
Federal Plus Loan for Parents
Private loans may be an option for some students
If you don’t want to take out a loan, you may opt for the Deferred Payment Plan that’s offered by the Cashier’s Office. Under this plan, you divide up your balance into four monthly payments at a low interest rate of 1.67%.
More loan information is available on the Office of Financial Aid website.
