Dining and Housing Options
Award-winning chefs and Sunday brunch? Could this be dorm food? It is at Rice.
The chefs don’t just prepare mashed potatoes, they create garlic potatoes and almond crusted snapper with brown butter sauce. Vegetarians can choose from mushroom, spinach and feta cheese turnovers or marinated three-pepper tofu stir fry with plum sauce. Each residential dining hall has its own menu, with staff preparing fresh food daily.
If you are in search of something quick and easy, there is Sammy’s Café or 13th Street, where you can grab American fare like grilled food, pizza or soup and salad.

On-Campus Meal Plan

- Plan OC 6 provides access to any five breakfast or lunch meals each week in the Residential Colleges. Plan OC 6 is $520 per semester.
- Tetra Points are credits in a debit account where funds on deposit may be spent at any campus location accepting them, including Sammy’s, Willy’s Pub, the Coffeehouse, residential college kitchens and any emerging food or vending sites that use a housing and dining system card reader. Tetra Points can be purchased in increments of $50.
Housing
Presently, on-campus residential space is available for most first-year students. Since the demand exceeds the available space, continuing students draw for the available space by a priority and lottery system established in each college. Most colleges are able to provide on-campus housing for three of a student's four years at Rice, and reasonable accommodations are available within close proximity to Rice for those who do not receive or choose to receive on-campus housing. The cost per semester is $3,575.
